Painting Away Color Tutorial

Step 1: Open the image you would like to work on.

Step 2: Click on the brush tool. In the options bar, switch the blend mode to color. Change your foreground color to black.

Step 3 : From the brushes palette, choose a medium sized, soft-edged (0% hardness) brush.

Step 4: Start painting. As you paint, the color will disappear saving your image in the grayscale.

Shadow In Motion Tutorial

Step 1: Tap the letter ''D'' to change your foreground color to Black. Hold down the options key and tap delete key. Type your text using a medium grey color. (#666666).

Step 2: Duplicate your type layer by using the Apple+J shortcut. Rasterize your layer.

Step 3: Go under the filter menu, under Pixelate, choose fragment. Run this Filter two more times by using the Apple + F shortcut.

Step 4: Press Apple + T. In the options bar change the width + height to 130%.

Step 5: Click on your original type layer and rasterize it. Click on the top layer and press Apple+ E to merge the 2 layers.

Step 6: To colorize your type, press Apple + U to bring up Hue/ Saturation. Click the colorize checkbox and move the hue slider to the color you'd like.

Gold Chome Tutorial

Step 1: Type your text. Put a selection around your text.

Step 2: Go under the select menu, and choose Save Selection. Click OK. Deselect your text. Delete your type layer.

Step 3: Go to the channels palette click on Alpha 1. Go under the filter menu, under Blur, choose gaussian blur. Enter 1 pixel.

Step 4: Return to the layers palette and click once on the background layer. Go under the filter menu, under Render and choose lightning Effects. Under the texture channel option choose Alpha 1. Click OK.

Step 5: Go under the image , under Adjustments Curves. Create a curve.
( Input 186. Output 64) Click OK.

Step 6: Go under the select menu and choose load selection. Choose Alpha 1 from the channel menu. Click OK. Go under the select menu under modify and choose expand. Enter 3 pixles. Click Ok.

Step 7: Press Shift + Apple+ J. Click on the background layer. Press Apple+A then press delete. Deselect. Click on your text layer. Choose drop shadow from the layers styles. Click OK.

Step 8: Choose Color Overlay from the layer styles. Change the blend mode to overlay then click the color swatch and use the following.
R=208, G=165, B= 16
Click OK.

Holiday Card Project.

What is the Holiday Card Project? The purpose of the Holiday card project is to create holiday cards for people who are hospitalized during the holiday season. The idea behind the project is to simply try to bring a little cheer to those who are undergoing hospital stay. Exactly who receives the cards? The cards will be distributed to both U.S. and international hospitals. The cards will be delivered in- person by a representative. The patients who receive the cards age range from children to seniors and have illness or injuries that vary from mild to terminal. What should I write on the card? Be as creative as you'd like. Just remember, the degree of illness for patients will vary, so it is important to be cheerful. Some suggested greetings include ''Hope you're feeling better", ''Thinking of you'', or ''Have a nice day''. Try to stay down from ''Get well soon'' as it might not be appropriate for all patients. Remember to include a message of ''Happy Holidays''. Will the patients know who sent the card? The only way a patient will know who the card is from if you sign your name. If you would like to send your card anonymously, you may. Can I send more card? Absolutely! However, remember that quality is better than quantity. Sending one quality card that you put time and effort into is better than sending two cards that were thrown together. Is there a specific size or medium for the card? There is no specific size for the cards. Use your best judgement. You can design and decorate cards by drawing, coloring or painting. You can use glitter, construction paper, cardboard, markers, crayons, colored pencils, ribbon, etc, to make your card special. You can also design your card using Photoshop. In Photoshop please use 4*6 or 5*7 for your dimensions.

African Proverb 9

An intelligent enemy is better than a stupid friend.

I believe that this african proverb means that it's for you to be smart than stupid. If the intelligent enemy is smarter than a friend i think that the enemy should be your friend. I believe that if you have in intelligent enemy, than i think you need to stay on your toes. My stupid friend can't tell me nothing so i need to pay attention to what's going on.

For example, i have a friend. He/ she has been friends with me for a very long time. And on the other side, i have an enemy and he/she is so intelligent. And my friend is stupid and he/she is telling stuff that i already know. I know that he/ she is very very tricky. So i have to stay aware and be on my guard. I mine as well just work by myself because my friend isn't helping me. So that's why i think an intelligent enemy is better than a stupid person.

Semi-Transparent Type Tutorial

Step 1: Type your text.

Step 2: Put a selection around your text. Hide your type layer. Click on the background layer.

Step 3: Press apple + J. Click on your layer styles and choose drop shadow click directly on the words Inner Shadow. Next click on
the words Inner glow. Click OK.

Step 4: Drag the type layer into the trash.

Step 5: Click on your background layer. Hold down the apple key +L to brighten your background image.

The Matrix Shadow Effect Tutorial

Step 1: Press ''D'' on your keyboard to set the background swatch with black. Press the ''X'' to swap swatches. Hold down the apple key and press delete.

Step 2: Type your text. Hold down the control key and click on the text layer. Choose rasterize.

Step 3: Make a duplicate of your rasterized layer. Go under the filter menu, under blur, choose motion Blur. when the dialog box appears set the angle to 0 degrees, and increase the distance of the blur to 39 pixels. Click OK.

Step 4: Make a duplicate of your original rasterized layer. Go under the filter menu Menu, under Blur, and choose Motion blur. When the dialog box appears, set the angle to 90 degrees, and the distance of Blur to 80 pixles click OK.

Knowledge is like a garden, if it is not cultivated, it can not be harvested.

I believe that this African proverb means that if you get the knowledge that you have gathered in school, then you can share it with others. In addition if you don't share the information then you can't spread it to others. I think that knowledge is everything. And without knowledge i don't know what you can be in life. Just like a garden if its not cultivated, what can it do? So this is why i come to school everyday to prepare myself for the future and have a successful life.

Carved Wood Type Tutorial

Step 1: Click on the gradient tool. In the options bar, click on the gradient thumbnail to bring up the gradient editor. When it appears, double click on the left color stop. When the color picker appears, click on the custom button, then choose PANTONE 722, and click OK. Double click on the right color stop; this time choose PANTONE 732, click OK.

Step 2: In the options bar, click on the radial gradient icon. Using this tool, click- and- drag from the center to the top of the background layer. Go under the filter menu, under noise, and choose add noise. enter 12% for amount, choose Gaussian, check Monochromatic, and click OK.

Step 3: Then, go under the filter menu, under blur and choose motion blur. Enter 33 degrees for the angle and 10 for distance Click OK. Now, go under the filter menu, under sharpen, and choose UN sharp mask. Enter 500% for amount, 9.0 pixels for radius, and 1 for threshold, then click OK.

Step 4: Type your text. Go under the layers menu, under rasterize, and choose type to convert your type layer into a regular image layer. Now under brush stokes, choose sprayed strokes. Type 12 for stroke rength, 7 for radius, and right diagonal for direction. Click OK.

Step 5: Click the magic wand tool. Click once in your first letter of your word. Then go under the selct menu and choose Similar to select the rest of the letters. under the select menu, choose inverse, Now, press delete to remove the little chunks of white space around the letters created by the brushed strokes filter.

Step 6: Go under the select menu and choose inverse. Drag your text layer into the trash to delete it, Press apple+J to put the selected background area up on its own layer. In the layers palette, click once on the background layer. Press apple + A, then press delete. Press apple+D to deselect.

Step 7: Click on your layers text layer. Choose bevel and emboss from the layer styles menu at the bottom of the layers palette. When the dialog box appears, increase the depth to 400% and decrease the size to 4. Increase the highlight opacity to 90%. From the left side of the layer style dialog box, click on the word drop Shadow to bring up its options. Increase the size to 8, lower the opacity to 50% and click OK.

Step 8: Choose the lasso tool. Make a thin selection in the center of each letter. Remember to hold down the shift key. Press apple+ C to copy. Add a new layer press apple + V to paste. Change the layer mode from normal to color burn.

Step 9: Duplicate your new layer. Now duplicate your duplicated later. Change the layer mode from color burn to screen. Click on the move tool. Press the right arrow key twice then down arrow once.

A person who knows proverbs can reconcile differences.

I think this african proverb means that if you understand proverbs, then you can understand other people situations. I believe that we should be there for one other and i think that people don't get the chance to talk about ow they feel. I also think that parents should be there for their children. Some people don't get the opportunity to talk to their kids about how they feel. I think if parents and friends start being there for each other, then maybe someone would want to talk about how they feel.

In addition one day maybe someone would be there for you because you helped them out so maybe they will help you out. I think we gotta be there for each other. I can use this in my everyday life by just being there for my friends and family. I just want everyone to be happy.

''It is better to be loved than feared''

I think this means that we all should love each other as one. Not going around shooting be stealing etc. I believe people should stop the violence and we should all just get along and live in peace. That way everyone well at least someone would like you. If someone fears you then they will be running from you forever. That's not good at all.

For instance i think people are feared because maybe they are not loved enough. So thats why they do such things to other people. It's not fair at all. I think i can use this in my everyday lie by just showing other people respect. We should all love one another. In addition, if we do, a world can be a better.

Multiple Choice questions usually include a phrase or stem followed by three to five options:
Test strategies:
Read the directions carefully.
Know if each question has one or more correct option
Know if you one penalize for guessing.
Know how much time is allotted ( this governs your strategy).

Extra Money

If i had $100,000 dollars i would give half to my parents. I would give half to my parents because i think they deserve it. They toke care of me all these years. And i would give the other half to people who are less fortunate. I would because i don't think is fair for people not to have money. I mean it's there fault but still its not fair. People shouldn't be living on the streets. They should be living in a house. Like the rest of us. And they also should have high paying jobs.

I think that people don't care about the people who are less fortunate. I mean some people are but not everybody. If one of us was like that i think you would want someone to help you out. To many people are dying these days. Life is to short. So you should just at least help someone out. And then at the end of the day you will probably say to yourself I'm proud of me.

I think this means that the fools are always trying to get attention. And the wise man is always trying to learn many things. I believe that to many people think that school is a joke. We come to school so that we can learn and get an education.

We can use this in our everyday life by just not acting a fool in school. Just pay attention and follow directions, you will be successful in school.

Study Strategies- True / False questions

True or False Test
Every part of a true sentence must be (true).
IF any one part of the sentence false, The whole sentence is false depict any other sentence.

Pay close attention to negatives, qualifiers, absolution, and long strings of statements.
Negatives can be confusing
If the question contains negatives, ''as no, not, cannot'' drop the negative and leave what remains.
Decide wheater that sentence is true or false. If it is true, its opposite, or negative, its usually false.

Qualifiers are words that abstract or open up general statements
Words like ''Sometimes, often, frequently, ordinarily, generally'' open up the possibilities of making accurate statements. They make more modest claims, are more likely to reflect reality, and usually indicate true answers.


Absolute words possibilities. ''No, never, none, always, every, entirely only'' imply the statement must be true 100 % of the time and usually indicate ''False'' answers.

Long sentences often include groups of words set off by punctuation.
Pay attention to the word ''truth'' of each of these phrases. If one is false, it usually indicates a ''false'' answer

Light Burst Tutorial

Step one: Set your foreground color to black, Type your text. Rasterize your type layer. Put a selection around your text. Go under the select menu and choose save selection.

Step two: Deselect your type. Switch your foreground color to white. Under the edit menu choose fill. Change the mode to multiply. Go under filter menu, under blur, Gaussian Blur. Enter 2.5 pixles.

Step three: Go under the filter menu, under stylize and choose solarize. Press shift+apple+L to run the auto levels. Duplicate layer.

Step four. Filter menu, under Distort, choose polar to rectangular.

Step five: Go under the image menu, under rotate Canvas, choose 90 degrees cw.
Invert your image (Apple + I) Filter menu, choose stylize, choose wind.

Step six: In wind dialog box choose wind method and from the right for direction. Run this filter 2 more times by pressing Apple+ F twice.

Step seven: Invert the image. Run auto levels. Run the wind filter 3 more times. Rotate canvas to 90 degrees ccw. Filter menu, distort, choose polar Coordinates.

Step eight: In Polar coordinates choose rectangular to polar. Change the layer Blend mode from Normal To screen.

Step Nine: Create a new layer. Choose gradient. Drag your gradient through this layer. Change the blend mode to color. ( Optional invert your layer)

Step ten: Click on your text layer copy. Filter menu, under Blur, choose radial blur. In dialog box choose zoom. Increase the amount to 66. Click your original text layer. Select menu, load selection. choose alpha 1. Change your foreground color to black. Deselect your text

I believe this African proverb means if your learn first, you an teach to others what you have learned. For example if someone looks up to you, if they see if you are paying attention in school. Then that person will do the same because he/she looks up you.

I think people can use his in their everyday life by just paying attention and let other people know that you should play attention in school because we are the future. When we grow up we might be doctors , lawyers , etc. so we need to know what we are doing. That's why teachers today were paying attention when they were in school. So when they grew up , they can teach what they have learned. Thats what I think what this African Proverb means.

Warp Type Tutorial

Step 1 : Choose Font, color and size.

Step 2: Type you word then in you layers palettes click 'T' twice.

Step 3: In your option bar, click the 't' that has a little curve on it. Then choose the style that you want.

Perspective Type Tutorial

Step 1: Choose font size,and color.

Step 2: Type your word (s)

Step 3: Go under the layers menu, under type and choose convert to shape.

Step 4: Hold down the apple key on the keyboard and tap the letter 'T' to transform the text.

Step 5: Hold down the control key and click the mouse: choose perspective. Grab one of the corner boxes and bring drag to create the perspective effect.

Step 6: Under the layer menu, under rasterize choose shape.

Step 7: Duplicate your foreground color. Tap the question mark and your keyboard. Click option+ delete to change the color.

Step 8: Choose the middle layer and move it down to create a drop shadow effect.

Step one : Chose your font,
Size,and Color.

Step two Type your word.

Step three In your layers palette apple click your type layer to out the '' Marching ants''. Around the text create a new layer.

Step four Go under the select menu, under Modify, and choose Contract dialog appears, enter 2 pixels, and click okay, then press Option+ Delete to fill your contracted selection.

Step five Deselect by pressing apple + D. Duplicate this layer by dragging it to the new layer leon. Go under the filter menu, Under blur and choose Gaussian Blur. When the dialog box appears, enter 3 pixels and click okay.

Step Six Choose Bevel and Emboss from the layer styles pop-up menu at the bottom of the layers palette.
-> Style= Emboss
-> Depth= 300
-> Size =12
-> Highlight Opacity =100%
-> Shadow Mode= Color Dodge -> Shadow Mode Opacity= 40%
-> Black color switch= White Click okay.

Step Seven=> In the layers palette click on the eye icon beside the background layer to hide it. Then choose Merge Visible from the palettes drop down menu. Choose Drop shadow from the styles menu and click ok. Click on background layer to reveal it.

Clearly I think the african proverb means that knowledge is everything. Without knowledge, life is nothing. For instance, this is why we come to school everyday so we can be prepared for the future. For example when you come to school you are suppose to learn. Then in the future when you have your knowledge, your riches can get you anything you want.

08-09 School Year

I think my goals for this year is to learn anything and everything I can. I feel as if I didn't accomplish those goals last year. I believe I didn't try my best at everything. However , I still managed to get good grades. Maybe if I studied everything every night, I think I could of did much better.

My benefits of attending New Media Tech Charter School is to learn a little more about computers. For example, in my other school we didn't have computer class. But they do at New Media. So I'm grateful to take the time out to learn a little more about Photoshop many other things. My weakest subject is reading and language arts. I think that class was really boring. So I wasn't really paying attention in that class. My strongest subject and always will be is math. Math is really exciting to me. As a result I'm going to do a lot better.

PSSA!

I think I did good on the PSSA`s. In fact i believe that the test was a little bit hard and some of it was a little bit easy. However even though i think the PSSA`s was easy you still have to be prepared for it. In addition i think if you want to do good on the PSSA you really need to study for it. For example if i did good on the PSSA its because i studyed. If you need extra help ask one of your teachers. They can really help you.

Furthermore the teacher that helped me the most so i can do good on the PSSA is my math teacher M.Cariann. Whenever i needed extra work i went to her and she gave it to me. If you dont go to your teachers maybe just maybe you probably wouldnt do as well as you want it to. So i think you really need to study real hard.

But I cant decide rather i did good o the PSSA or not. Maybe i didnt do well, but l at least i tried to do my best. But if i did do well, its because i studied. I hope my classmates did well also so we can make AYP. If we did we need to keep it up!

Tools 2

Pencil Tool: This tool is normally used to create little dots in an image. It makes about the same as the brush tool.

Eyedropper tool: With this tool you can set your foreground color. In your image, click the color you must want to have.

Vertical Type Tool: This tool used to put some text into an image. It will write vertical ( like the name suggests).

Screen Modes: Use these buttons to select your screen modes ( standard/ fullscreen with bar/full screen).

The two jobs salaries that I`m goona talk about is Animator salaries and Web developement.

Web developement make around 51,750 in one year. Animators make around 50,360 in one year. The difference between those two salaries are 1,390. Web developement mahes 1,390 more than animators because every job has a different duty. Every person doesn`t have to do the same thing. So thats why web developement makes more money than animators.

Duties
Multimedia Artists and Animators create programs and applications for the Internet and for CD-ROM, like web sites and games. They also create programs for information kiosks, such as those in shopping malls, and design video games. Multimedia products combine graphics, sound, text, animation, still images and digital video into one package. A designer is someone who works in the multimedia industry, usually specializing in one or two of the areas listed above. The duties of a Multimedia Artists and Animators can vary widely. A designer may do everything from brainstorming ideas for a product, to developing graphics, to computer programming.

Tools

Eraser Tool: With this tool you can erase parts of your image. You can also use it just like a brush.

Gradient Tool: You simply choose your colors and draw a line in your image and it will automatically create the gradient for you.

Paint Bucket Tool: This tool enalles you to point large areas at once.

Horizontal Type Tool: This tool is used to put some text into an image.

Custom Shape Tool: With this tool you can crate a custom shape in your image with the foreground color.

Hand Tool: With this tool you can simply scroll through an image by clicking on it and moving your mouse.

Move Tool: Used to move a layer. Use the mouse or arrows keys to move it.

Rectangular Marquee Tool: Used to select a rectangular areas you can expand your selection by holding SHIFT and selecting the areas you want added to the selection.

Elliptical Marquee Tool: Used to select an ellipital ( round) area.

Single Row Marquee Tool. Selects a single pixel row.

Single Column Marquee Tool: Selects a single pixel column.

Brush Tool: This tool enables you to brush whenever you wants.

Zoom Tool: This tool is used to zoom in and out of your image.

What the brain sees!

The brain most quickly and easily responds to four major attributes of all viewed objects: color, form, depth, and movement.

COLOR
Every color we see can be made with three basic, primary colors-Red, Green and Blue AKA RGB


Secondary colors in light are formed whn 2 primary colors are mixed together. When mixed equally, red and blue light will make magenta. Green and red will make yellow. Blue and green create cyan AKA CMYK

Extra Credit
For printing you used CMYK because you can use more color.
You use RGB for the web because makes your file size smaller.

FORM
Another common attribute of images that the brain responds to is he recognition of form. Form defines the outside edges and internal parts of an object and has parts: Dots, Shapes, Lines.

DOTS
The dots is the simplest form that can be written. Hundreds of small dots grouped together can form complex pictures. George Seurat and other pointillist artists in the nineteenth century used technique called pointillism.

LINES
When dots of the same size are drawn so closely together that there is no space between them, the result is a line. LInes whether sraight, curved or in combination, evoke an emotion.

1. Curved lines convey a mood of playfulness and movement.
2. If line are thick and dark, their message is strong and confident.
3. If lines are thin and light with a clear separation between them, their mood is delicate, perhaps a bit timid

SHAPES
The third type of form, shapes, is the combination of dots and lines into pattens. The three basic shapes are parallelograms, circles and triangels.

DEPTH
If humans had only one eye and confined their visual messages to drawings on the walls of caves, there would be no need for complex illustrations. But because we have 2 eyes set slightly apart, we naturally see in three rather than 2 dimensions.

MOVEMENT

Recongnizing movement is one of the most important traits in the survival of an animal. There are four types of movement, real, apparent, graphic, and implied.

1. Real Movement: It`s is actual movement by a viewer or by some other person or object.
2: Apperent Movement: Apperent or illusionary, movement is a type of motion in which staionary objects appear to move. The most common example of this type of movement is a flip book.
3: Graphic Movement; Can be the motion of the eyes as they sacn an area or the way a graphic designer positions elements so that the eyes move throughout the layout.
4: Implied Movement: Is the motion that a viewers perceives in a still, single image without any movement of object, image or eye. Optical or op art has been used in advertisments and in posters to achieve pulsating results. Visusual vibration is theterm used for the images.
